Yesterday, the hearing for Fatos Nano at the court of appeal, which by its decision confirmed that he would continue to remain in prison, although, according to many, he had already served his sentence, was followed by a tense atmosphere. From early morning, the area around the court was filled with heavy police presence.
Strict checks were observed at the entrance and in the corridors. Relatives, supporters and opposition deputies tried to enter the hall, but many of them were prevented from doing so. According to the descriptions published on the page, there were shoving, insults and moments of tension.
Nano's supporters described the decision as unjust and political, while the police secured the court premises throughout the hearing.

Today the Court of Appeal did not provide any new solution! Speaking after leaving it, Servet Pëllumbi told our newspaper that the decision was expected and that it showed the continuation of political revenge against Fatos Nano. According to him, the opposition and the socialists will continue the political and civic struggle to establish the rule of law and the independence of justice.
He stressed that the Nano case is not merely an individual case, but a test for the entire democratic system and for human rights in the country.

Training "Sarox-95-2" concludes
Yesterday a joint Albanian-Greek exercise in Pojskërdh in the Korçë district came to an end, with an economic and rescue character, for cases of natural disasters and earthquakes with consequences. It is reported that the purpose of this exercise was to assist and rescue the population of a border village with Albania, threatened by a landslide (during a storm), as well as to evacuate and move it to a safe area. Rescue teams from both sides acted on the basis of the joint emergency and rescue plan. A total of 123 soldiers from the two countries took part. On the Albanian side, it was closely monitored by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General Hysen Sejko, together with senior officers from the Directorate of Combat Preparation and Training and the General Staff, the prefect of Korçë, and local and central government leaders. On the Greek side, the exercise was observed by Brigadier General Athanasios Koskinas with senior officers from the Greek Ministry of Defence and Corps B of the Greek Army. At the end, the exercise was evaluated and its strengths and shortcomings were noted, drawing conclusions for future joint exercises as well. The Albanian-Greek exercise was described as a success of mutual benefit for both sides and, as such, should continue to be further deepened. Each participant received a symbolic gift.
